Hideshi Maruya, the designer of our 9-year-old ‘SHELLAC’ brand, has been seeking his own original style, breaking away from mundane designs, as the brand name indicates.
In his previous job as chief designer with ’5351 Pour Homme’, he was recognized as a professional who really knows his materials. After his debut Paris collection, he became independent. He is constantly seeking creative ways of using leather (his favorite), various types of cloth, and dyes. Faithfully pursuing our own way and moving ever forward is the core spirit of ‘SHELLAC’.
1987: Hideshi Maruya entered Abahouse International Co. Ltd.
1993: He was appointed chief designer of ‘5351 Pour Homme’ and made his debut Tokyo collection.
1997: His debut Paris collection.
2000: He left Abahouse International Co, Ltd.
2002: He established SHELLAC CO, Ltd.
2002: Their own store was opened in Daikanyama
2004: A second branch was opened in Nagoya
2007: A third branch was opened in Aoyama
2007: A fourth branch was opened in Yurakucho
2008: First Exihibition(Spring&Summer) in PARIS
